We are experts in the space radiation environment and its effects on space and aviation systems, with over 30 years experience of in-orbit and in-flight observation and experimentation.
We are involved in several collaborative projects with partners as diverse as NASA, the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) and the Met Office.
Our group closely monitors the space and atmospheric radiation environments, with a special interest in the impacts of space weather on them. Follow the link below to the latest real-time space weather data of interest to us!
See the latest real-time data from our neutron monitor station installed in our lab.
MAIRE-S is our real-time model of the atmospheric radiation environment. It provides up to-date-calculations of radiation exposures at aviation altitudes, including during space weather events. Real flight routes can also be uploaded and the model will return the live exposure rates for the entered route.
Note: The model is currently still undergoing full validation.
